Born in 1739, this entrepreneur made waves throughout the weaving community and is considered by some to be one of the founders of utopian socialism. He seceded from the Church of Scotland during the 18th century, as many others did, however he took his secession one step further by establishing a new branch of Christianity which he named the Old Scotch Independents.
