About Us

Ultra Light Fishing Rod

LYT “N” BUGG started from the mutual love of the outdoors that Ken Kennamer and Tracy Bingham shared. We are both veterans, Ken Vietnam Army and Tracy Cold War Navy Submarine Force.

As our friendship grew, we spent more time fishing and hunting together. Our first thoughts centered on improving night fishing, especially when using a sensitive ultra light fishing rod. We realized that no matter how much light we tried, we couldn’t eliminate the problems: insects, eye fatigue, and, most critically, missing the subtle bite that defines ultra light fishing. (Did we mention insects?!)

We tried all the existing rod tip lights, but none solved the combined problems of fitting any ultra light fishing rod, interfering with casting, poor durability, backlight glare, and eye fatigue. Determined to create the ultimate solution for seeing those subtle takes, we worked on a breakthrough for three years. Then it happened… LYT “N” BUGG was born, perfecting the ultra light fishing rod experience after dark!

We developed a unique way to mount a red light on any ultra light fishing rod tip that can be attached and left in place for casting or spinning rigs, regardless of the rod size. This ingenious design means you no longer need distracting backlight or have to constantly stare at your rods! An added bonus: while using the LYT ‘N’ BUGG system, insects became more interested in the glowing fishing rod tips and less interested in people.

(Note: Anchor light still required if in a boat.)

Our next product focused on hunter safety, maybe not glamorous, but essential. The “Hunter Safety Light” idea came to Ken the night bullets whizzed by as trespassers shot after legal shooting light. Who was the real deer in the woods? A simple solution that gives a hunter peace of mind entering and exiting the woods will not lead to dodging bullets.

Our goal is to provide customers with useful products that will add to their Love of the Outdoors—and ensure they never miss the subtle bite on their ultra light fishing rod again!
